Starlight Runner's "Weight" Premieres At 2004 Cannes Film Festival

John Nizzari's Directing Debut to Screen at Short Film Corner New Filmmaker Celebration

April 15, 2004 - New York, NY - "Weight" helmed by first-time director John Nizzari, a production of the Starlight Runner Rising Stars New Filmmaker Program, will premiere as a part of the Short Film Corner in the Palaise des Festivals at the heart of the 2004 Marché du Film, better known as the Cannes Film Festival.

In a bold new effort by the festival to bring short films to the attention of film industry decision-makers worldwide, the Short Film Corner will present "Weight" alongside shorts from the festival's Official Competition and from the best films of the international Cinéfondation.

The film will be screened in a state of the art screening room, posted on the Internet, screened on kiosks in the Palaise, and exposed to hundreds of buyers, distributors, producers and festival programmers. John Nizzari will be in attendance at the festival, along with the film's female lead Natasa Warasch, and executive producer Jeff Gomez.

The story of a young woman forced to confront seven years of trauma in three days, the fractured narrative of "Weight" brings to light important but often hidden issues faced by women all over the world.

"'Weight' is a film of great artistic merit," said Peter Belsito Executive Vice President of international indie-film consulting firm FilmFinders. "The lead actress is unforgettable."

"Weight" will screen in New York City and at the Hollywood Shorts Film Festival in Los Angeles after Cannes, dates to be announced. Industry colleagues and the press may call or email requests for DVD copies of the film at the contact information below. Starlight Runner will be announcing a slate of feature films shortly.
